Biography

Born in Haiti, Ralph A. Maingrette was educated in United States, Mexico, Puerto-Rico and Canada. Now he works in Montréal as an artist painter-sculptor, graphic designer and he animates creative arts, mask, toys and africaninstruments making workshops.


In the year 2006, he created  Espace-interculture.com an organism dedicated to promote cultural and artistic diversity in Montréal and villageethnic.ca a webzine.


The main influence in Ralph A. Maingrette paintings can be traced to Poto Mitan (pole in the center of a hounfor, a vaudou temple) School of 1968 shows renewed interest in Vaudou and Pre-Hispanic theme. His works reflect his haitian popular culture and ancestral beleif while committed to modernity.


Ralph Maingrette is a member of the (E.L.A.N) English-language Arts Network and a guest speaker at Passage to Canada .
